HairFromHim NEGATIVE Review

This is my review of my experience with HairFromHim,  a hair service based at 94 Brigstock Rd, Thornton Heath, CR7 7JA,  run by Marvin Francis.

My review is honest and truthful and I wish to warn others to thread carefully with  instagram so called slay artists as what you see on Instagram is usually a far cry from real life.

I was drawn to HairFromHim's instagram page (click link) with all the glossy hair pictures of invisible hairlines. Basically the wigs looked as if they were growing from ones’ scalp. There was no review for HairFromHim on the internet, no address, nothing. Just his heavily edited Instagram pictures. This already should have served as a warning bell but I went ahead to book the appointment. 

I paid over £500 for what was supposed to be virgin hair,  for three packets and a lace frontal.

HairFromHim only accepts bank deposits and cash in hand (another warning bell).

Location: 

A small and cramped space located in a rundown area of Croydon. The space is poorly lit and it is shared with another busy hairdresser. Customers are squeezed in tightly close to one another and the other hairdresser is quite loud with her clients.

Customisation: 

There is NO wig customisation AT ALL. For the hefty prices that HairFromHim charges, you receive a premade bought shop wig which is NOT measured, cut or altered to your specification and measurements. HairFromHim practices a one size fit all approach and as such there are MAJOR issues with the wig which will require you to self adjust yourself though you have spent over £500 for a wig. You basically arrive at the shop and he places a pre-made wig on your head. NO measurements are taken prior to this!

Hair:

1.    The hair has ALOT  of split ends, extremely thin and looks like damaged hair due to the excessive split ends.. I have bought better quality hair from Ali Express.

2.    HairFromHim claims he colours the hair but he does NO such thing. The wig is pre-bought as it is and and passed off as customised.

3.    The lace is NOT invisible and can be seen from outer space. Do NOT be fooled by the pictures on Instagram which show an invisible look. You will need TONS of makeup to blend this wig and the lace will still be VERY visible to a blind bat. It now makes sense why his saloon space is poorly lit…to hide his shoddy work.

4.    The lace was NOT evenly cut and one side of my wig has more lace than the other. Again this was NOT done against my forehead hence the discrepancies.

5.    Because the wig making is NOT customised, the parting is NOT accurate,  UNEVEN,  NOT in the middle and one side was particularly higher than the other side. I was shocked when HairFromHim placed the wig on my head and he didn’t even bother to adjust the wig itself as the part was one sided and CLEARLY not straight. Do you have to EVEN tell a hairdresser that the placement of your wig is not straight? It was something he should be able to see as he places the wig on your head.

6.    I spent many hours customising the wig to suit and fit my head and adjusting the parting.

7.    The wig band is already loose, weak and not secured. This occurred at week two of wearing the wig which was ONLY worn TWICE.

HairFromHim does not take constructive feedback and becomes quite rude and aggressive when clients are unhappy. He is also EXTREMELY impatient as you try to explain what you want.

I will not advice anyone to use HairFromHim as his hair quality is questionable, his work is sloppy and does not reflect his fee. He is also extremely rude when you try to explain why you’re unhappy and has NO interest in customer satisfaction because people never complain about his work (his exact words to me).

It explains why he is coy about his location and keeps it hidden on Google Maps to avoid negative reviews and hide behind his heavily edited pictures on on Instagram.

My blog is to serve as a warning others to becareful with hairdressers like HairFromHim from Instagram as transparency is a huge issue for them and their work NEVER a refelction of what you see on their heavily edited Instagram pictures and feed.
